I walked down to Burleigh Heads and back from Mermaid Beach again today and the sun was shining brilliantly.  It’s amazing how the sun brings everything to life again.  How I love Australia…..

For shell collector me, this is a dream to have the beach on my doorstep on the Gold coast, Australia.

I spent some time this morning checking out the coffee bar scene in Burleigh Heads and had a great time snapping away at what caught my eye.  But how good are Australian Beaches?  Very bloody good indeed, I would say!!

What a beach? Mermaid Beach at its best......but swim between the flags as it can be pretty dangerous.

Life inspiring is what this coastline is about.  The best ever way to pick up a dull mood is to head for the beach…….

Hard Going……..

I ran back from Burleigh Heads to Mermaid Beach along the beautiful beach….about 7 kms…..it was bloody hard work!  The tide was coming in, so the sand wasn’t as firm as it could have been.  My face was as red as a beetroot when I got back and it wasn’t from sunburn either!

Sunday Morning Bliss……..Mermaid Beach, Gold Coast Australia.

Woke up to the sound of Kookaburras, Rainbow Lorikeets, Magpies and the sound of the waves crashing on the shore.  Unreal!  We were up at 4am…..body clocks are still out of sync.  Walking to Burleigh Heads along the beach shortly at low tide and will run back…..around 12 kms all up.  You little beauty!

This is a winning spot, the beach bar at the Burleigh Heads Surf Lifesaving Club, situated in the fine location of Mowbray Park, right on the beach front in Burleigh Heads. Sit at one of the tables outside (you need to be quick as seating is limited) and breath in the wonderful sea air, sipping on an icy cold Carlton Draft beer, poured straight from the tap.  Full TAB and Kino facilities available.

Cross the road and you’ll find a great spot for a cold beverage too at the Burleigh Heads Bowls Club.  This is a pristine, well kept lawn bowls facility and loved by many of the locals for not only it’s fine greens but it’s club bistro and bar facilities too.  An icy cold beer can be guaranteed here, no worries!  It’s a wonderful outlook through the wall of glass out onto the greens.

This is a great spot to sit in air conditioned comfort on a hot afternoon, watching the action outside over a bite to eat and a drink or two.  My father-in-law Ken would love this place.  Ken is a keen bowler in Florida, USA.  Ken’s recently been promoted to Skip which is  brilliant.  This makes him in charge of the team….so watch out team members if you play out of line!  Ken loves this game and hopefully will visit this club in Burleigh Heads, Queensland, sometime in the future.
