Well, we are making the most of the goods here in the US as they are SO much cheaper than buying them back in OZ (these are not chav shoes! they are the real deal) No, the pink runners are not mine…lol! and the green…… Steve’s not going to get run over in these is he??
In Australia, we use these jars to pickle veg and preserve fruit in….in America they drink out of them, manly iced tea….yuck!!
Ken had some ‘Blue Bols’ that needed using up, so for ‘Happy Hour!!’ instead of Vodka on the rocks with fresh lime juice, we added a shot of this blue liquid…..not bad I have to say……love the colour too!
We visited a friend in Sarasota yesterday at his beautiful apartment overlooking Sarasota Bay. He makes the most wicked mean margaritas on this planet! My head this morning can vouch for that!!
We then went over to the Marina and had dinner at Marina Jacks……one of my favourite waterfront restaurants in Sarasota. Beautiful fresh oysters…….I could live here for a while!!!

The Sherlock Holmes Inn
They may not have seen much daylight the last seven years, but for husband and wife team Gary and Melanie Kirwan at the Sherlock Holmes Inn, it’s all about the people. “We’re a bit like a country pub in the city,” Gary says. From the solitary door on Collins St, head down to exposed bricks, wooden beams and comfy nooks. A comforting English menu is at hand, especially Mrs Hudson’s (aka Sherlock’s landlady) steak and mushroom in ale pie. There are 18 beers on tap, as well as a mulled cider to warm the cockles. 415 Collins Street; 9629 1146; thesherlockholmes.com.au
Just a few pics from last night’s Christmas Party for the local neighborhood!! Ken and Gina of course wore ‘his and hers’ outfits again….and you should have seen the get up they were in for church on Sunday! Lol!!!!
It was a fun night….music wasn’t as good as the last time we went to this do, but we enjoyed being out.
I woke up this morning and thought I was back in grey, cold England!!
I took this shot last night of Steve’s mum Gina and Ken, wearing ‘his and hers’ matching Aran jumpers, knitted beautifully by Gina. The two always go out matching each other!!!! How sweet!!!
Dr. Ken Stephens celebrated his 82nd Birthday yesterday and we ate at a fantastic Mexican Restaurant in Riverview, Florida called Mi Casa. What a great little gem of a place this was.
Steve made us some mean margaritas! before we left and off we went ……………
It was a fantastic restaurant and a fun night…..thanks Ken, hope you have many more to celebrate in the future…….
Yep, Steve loves his new trainers and has been giving them a hell of a time since he bought them, rowing running and power walking almost every day! As my dear departed dad would say “good on you cobber, keep up the good work!”
Steve’s mum Gina and husband Ken are celebrating 30 years to the day they started dating (they married at a later date) We had cocktails at their home before having dinner at ‘The Old Castle’, a very good German restaurant near by. The food was incredible and service fantastic…..we had a lovely night.
Well, I have to say this has been a Thanksgiving to remember, spent with Steve’s lovely mum Gina and her husband Ken along with friends in beautiful Florida. Club Renaissance is a fantastic club and it was packed today with merry people all around us. Was Turkey served? Silly question! The food at the club, by my high standards!! was very good indeed! It was a five star buffet and I was over the moon to see beautiful, freshly cooked king prawns (they call them shrimp!) displayed wonderfully on mountains of ice and lemon wedges. It was all a dream for me not to be cooking! and I lapped up all the spoiling. happy hour and dinner at the club again tomorrow night! I must go for a run/walk again in the morning!!
